Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

This privacy policy explains how TheVanFam4 collects, uses and protects any information you provide when you use this website. We take your privacy seriously and will only use your personal information in the ways described below.

Who we are

This website is operated by Claire Patterson, known as TheVanFam4, based in Congleton, Cheshire, England. We are the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at thevanfam.4@outlook.com.

What information we collect and why

Email sign-ups

If you sign up to receive our packing checklist or email newsletter, we collect your name and email address. We use this information solely to send you the content you requested and occasional updates about new guides, trips and content on thevanfam4.uk.

The legal basis for processing this data is consent — you actively chose to sign up. You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email we send.

We use Mailchimp (operated by The Rocket Science Group LLC, USA) to manage our email list and deliver emails. By signing up, your name and email address will be stored on Mailchimp’s servers. Mailchimp is certified under the EU-US and UK-US Data Privacy Frameworks. You can read Mailchimp’s privacy policy at mailchimp.com/legal/privacy.

We use double opt-in for all sign-ups, which means you will receive a confirmation email before being added to our list. We will never add you to our list without your explicit confirmation.

Comments

If you leave a comment on this site, you will be asked to provide your name and email address. Your name will be displayed publicly alongside your comment. Your email address will not be published but will be stored by WordPress. We use comments solely to facilitate conversation and do not share commenter data with third parties.

Contact by email

If you contact us directly by email, we will use your name and email address to respond to your enquiry. We do not store email correspondence beyond what is needed to handle your query, and we will never add you to our mailing list without your separate consent.

Website analytics

This website is hosted on WordPress.com, which collects standard server log information including your IP address, browser type and pages visited. This data is used to understand how the site is used and to maintain its security. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors. Please refer to Automattic’s privacy policy for full details of how WordPress.com handles data.

Cookies

This website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to help the site function correctly. WordPress.com sets cookies for basic functionality including login sessions and security. If you sign up to our email list, Mailchimp may also set cookies to track email engagement.

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies for marketing purposes. You can control cookie settings through your browser settings at any time.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links, including links to Amazon, Colapz, Zone3 and other brands. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Clicking an affiliate link does not result in us collecting any personal data about you. Any affiliate tracking is handled by the relevant retailer’s own systems and privacy policies.

We clearly label affiliate links throughout the site and only recommend products we genuinely use and trust.

Brand partnerships and sponsored content

We work with brands on partnership content and sponsored posts, including paid Instagram Reels and written features. Where content is paid for or produced in exchange for products or services, we clearly disclose this in line with ASA guidelines using labels such as “Ad”, “Gifted” or “Paid partnership”.

When working with brand partners, we may share aggregated audience insights — such as follower demographics or post reach figures — to demonstrate the suitability of a partnership. We do not share individual subscriber data or personal information about our audience with any brand partners.

How long we keep your data

We keep your email address on our mailing list for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your data will be removed from our active list. Mailchimp may retain suppression records — a record that you unsubscribed — to ensure we do not contact you again. You can request full deletion of your data at any time by emailing us.

We do not retain email correspondence beyond what is reasonably necessary to handle your query.

Your rights under UK GDPR

Under UK data protection law, you have the following rights:

  • Right to access — you can ask us what personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your personal data
  • Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to limit how we use your data
  • Right to data portability — you can ask for a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Right to withdraw consent — you can unsubscribe or withdraw consent at any time
  • Right to object — you can object to us processing your data

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at thevanfam.4@outlook.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator.

Third party websites

This site contains links to other websites including campsites, brands and tourism boards. Once you leave thevanfam4.uk, this privacy policy no longer applies. We recommend reading the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top. We recommend checking this page periodically. Continued use of this website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
